new ride

I pulled the trigger and put a deposit down.

32' Mirage pilothouse
Single diesel delivers 3.5 miles per gallon, 700 mile range and 30 mph cruise, sleeps 4 (albeit tightly), and has good protection from the shoulder season elements and basic creature comforts and great fish-ability.

It has some issues too and will be a bit of a project and take me a few years to get it the way I want it but the good outweighs the not-so-good. Hope to have it up this way by Christmas. HOHOHO!

One of the best riding boats out there. Very economical and extremely well built. Excellent choice.

When are we going to the canyons?

That is a machine! Paint it battleship grey and mount a 50 cal on the bow and you could do some damage! Seriously though, she's gorgeous. Best of luck!

Thank you all for your well wishes. I have my work cut out for me with this one. Should be fun when it is done, will be a nightmare until then. Step one: Get it here and store it.

It has a Volvo KAD300 diesel coupled to a douprop counter rotating I/O. (Yeah, I know I hate I/O's too but the efficiency of this set-up is so great I had to consider it..besides I plan to purchase a spare drive as a backup)

Work to do...like any boat there is always something to do. But in my case I have bunch of electrical upgrade issues I want to tackle. A lot of stuff does not work like it is suppose to. This doesn't sound like much but trust me it will take me the better part of two seasons to make the boat "mine" and what I would consider offshore ready. The good news is I should be able to use the boat as is and work on it as I go. It only has 240 hours on it and never fished. This was the boat that was dragged around to all the shows.
One thing I want to do this year is replace the existing door and cut a new door on the port side and install freeman marine pilothouse doors. What they have there works but is kind of weak, the freeman doors are serious equipment. All other Mirage PH's I have seen have two doors so the PH can take cut.
I also have a long list of things I "want" (goodies) to do it but may take me a while to do it. Like pimping it out with some underwater LED's, an on-board salt water pressure washer But I do plan to put a high end fish finder on it this season and put a bunch of grab rails in spots that need them asap...as well as some serious safety equipment. The neglected general maintenance alone will keep me busy.
