Just wanted to thank you for the insite on the recent blank selection thread. I ended up going with the CSB108-2M. Wrapped it conventional (spiral wrap). Matched up with a 5501 Pro Rocket and 14# fireline. Nice matching set. Took it for its first fishing trip yesterday afternoon. No fish around, so don't have a feel for how it will handle them. Definitely a stiffer tip and more backbone than the 108 Arra that I have thrown in those areas, ao I expect it will work well. Went through the bag and tried out a wide variety of plugs/jigs/tins that I commonly use below the dam. With a lob cast I can throw 3/8 - 1/2 oz jigs. Won't win any distance medals with those, but will do it in a pinch. 3/4, 1, 1 1/2, and 2 oz slab spoons it throws real well. Was real happy with how it threw a 2 oz pikie. The Arra would groan, the CSB felt real comfortable doing it. Various other metal lips in the 1-2 oz range worked well as did 1-2 oz pencils. Probably not the best pencil rod, but will work those sizes just fine. Tip is light enough that I can feel those metal lips thumping which is helpful when working them in the dark. 1 1/2 oz spooks were a joy to work. Throws them nicely and easy to walk. Smaller metal lips in the 3/4 range (spin atoms and pikies), it will throw. Again, no distance medals, but it will do it if I need. Overall, rod felt real good in my hands. Light, but with some backbone. Pretty much can handle anything that I did with the Arra plus handle somewhat heavier stuff. Hopefully will get into fish soon to see what it will do during the fight. Seems that the rod will work out real well. Definitely a rod I can use on the beach in Rhody too. Many thanks for your help!
