Preseason Discussions

I want to find out from you what topics we should go over to prepare for the season that is almost on our doorstep. I guess between he show over the weekend and the fact that it is 50 SOMETHING DEGREES OUT I'm really itching to get ready for this new season.

So what are a few topics of discussion to go over and prepare? We'll take some of these topics and run threads to explore in better detail.

Thanks!

John

Early Season Lure Selection would be good

Maybe something on the types of bait that are starting to show in certain areas for the beginning of the season

Perhaps the readying of gear. Preparing your reels, oil, grease etc. Line, do you need to change it out? Or, do you just reverse it if it is braid etc.

Will there be a big sandeel population again? How about pogies? Think there will be a good crop of adults in the bay this spring? What about the Peanuts??? Haven't seen many the last 2 falls.

How about looking at the tides for the year now, and picking the 4 leg dates by the end of April so people already know and make commitments or changes based on it.

what size blow-up dolly would suit your needs best..inshore..offshore..skishing..yacking...or just floating to a sand bar, extra tough ..or reg. skin for hooks...what size water wings would she have..for your size an weight?....will she need to shoot flares out the backside...will you need an extra pocket for more plugs...or a sandwich....what color hair would you pick...easy deflate for storage or always ready to go when you are..after all everyone needs a life saver or someone to talk to when on the water.

This is a good time of year for things like reel mainyenance , how to make a surf bag , normally info on herring tanks but I guess that is a moot thing now , maybe pros and cons of various waders, info about the various new lines available, What rubber tails to buy , etc , etc.

What types of bait appear at different times of the year, and the best lure to match the hatch.

thats why they call it fishing not catching
