old land line Verizon retention discount - save $

to anyone still using Verizon for a land line (I'm in a line of biz that I have to have one), this may save you some $. I had the (euphemism alert) 'Freedom' plan, which was $50 for unlimited local and long distance. When I was restoring service at my cottage they told me of a deal for $24/ month includes unlimited local and long distance for as long as I keep the phone activated (which will probably only be until December, but I digress..). I asked them about my existing service, and they lowered that to $18/month for 2 years (I figure that within 2 years they'll have a better offer for me to stop me from fleeing to cell). Neither of these deals is a contract so you can drop it at any time. So on one phone I'll save about $32 a month, and on the other I'll save $20 but won't get charged for long distance. Not bad, in my opinion.

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.

Received my bill today and called the rep
they told me that they now offer a plan for 12.99 each month with a penny a min charge ? for both in coming and out going calls (No LD calling)
Or another plan for 20.00 per month . No fee(no LD calling)
I said thanks and hung up, got back to work and hit the internet , zippo listed as stated above. ?

The weird part is I also received a letter last week from them saying "thanks From Verizon" that they would change my Freedom plan from 50.00 per month to 30.00 ( I currently have phone and internet )

I may have to call them a few more times

huh...I called on Wednesday and got my parents phone changed, saved $20/month. Maybe it is because of the plan that you have?
