Chappy beach report

Well I drove out to chappy the other day and in places the erosion is pretty bad. The worst spot (on chappy) is at the air-down lot on the way out to the breach and norton point . The lot had bushes all around and on one side there was the entrance to norton and on the other side there was a sand vehicle trail that use to snake its way thru the dunes and out onto the beach near a spot called Metcalf's hole and then re connect with the entrance to Norton point and out onto what is now known as the breach. The breach itself looks OK and has been clearly washed over many times over the winter, but the area near metcalfs and the air-down lot has lost a lot of ground. One official told me that over the last few years, over 800' of land is gone in this area. The water has come thru the parking lot at times over the winter, the dunes, road and bushes are gone, the is a small cliff into the sea where the parking lot (dirt) and bushes were.
Also down the beach at the swimming beach there use to be a walkway made from trex synthetic wood, it was from the parking lot to the beach and ended in the small dunes...most of that is gone only a small section near the lot remains, the water has removed most of the beachhead along that area. Lots of seawater entered the swan pond area, it is really a lot different this year.

Here are a couple of photos: the one photo is the lot and the other was the road that lead thru the dunes and around to metcalfs and the beach.

Are you talking the lot at the end of Katama Rd ? Or that lot coming down from Chappy proper?
