Talking Finally....Epic! For me anyways!

I got out at 5am on the water this morning and was determined to hit the bay hard after just doing river fishing on the skiff to date this season. I found the fish within 30 minutes and threw a chunk off the side and then proceeded to try and find out what plug or plastic they were going to like. After going through 1/2 a dozen choices they settled in on a little white spook rattler that was getting hit after hit. All fish caught on this(10+, stopped counting after 6) were in the 24-26" range. Really fun on light tackle and they fought hard for little guys. One 26" fish actually ran and turned my skiff while adrift. i was laughing to myself. While all this schoolie action was going on for 30-45minutes i forgot about the chunk rod. I had hooked up with a skate on my first drift with it and wasn't expecting much on the chunk side of fishing but when I looked at the reel it only had about 50 or so yards left on it and I was thinking that it was another skate just holding on for dear life while I drifted the flats in Dux bay. Well, I start reeling it and it's heavy. With my track record though I'm not excited cuz it's probably something non striped. Well about 100 yards from the boat it surfaces and rolls over trying to spit the hook! Fish on and it's a nice one for me! 32" and giving a good battle. I get it to the skiff and I am so amped! I measure it and sorry to say I didn't have a camera on board but it was healthy. I'm spent and have a cup of joe and take in the beauty of the bay. After a few more schoolies i call it a morning and take the ride back in to the Jones. It was my best day on the skiff since I've owned her and I am so happy right now! I have to get back out tomorrow morning! Too bad no one was with me after making a couple of offers but I do have to admit it was nice just being alone. 1 other boat out there on my drift and he was hooking up too. Flat clam water with a little breeze. Just perfect!

Talking Are You Kidding Me?!

Got out today but it was a little to windy for the skiff to be in the bay. Made a run out but it was building the farther I got out so I turned it around and anchored up in the river. Drifted a whole tinker mac and it got slammed by this 34" chubber. It wrapped itself on a sonar marker bouy and i had to do some carefull manuvering on the tiller while I slowly reeled her in. The fish was slapping like crazy. After a few minutes I got her clear and I netted it into the skiff. 1 fish day but it was a great feeling getting it on board. Seriously this stuff never happens to me and definetly not 2 days in row! WTF

Oh and thanks to Beamie for supplying me with all those macs last time we went out! They got put to good use! I could use some more though!

Things done at the last possible minute are done with the greatest possible information. Procrastination is, therefore, the most efficient means of doing things.
