I still say the egg.......reptiles were laying eggs long before chickens (birds) even evolved! No one ever said it had to be a chicken's egg.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

There argument seems to assume no evolutionary development. As Buzz said, just because a protein in the chicken's ovaries are required for them to produce eggs, doesn't me some ancestor of the chicken didn't also have the same protein.

If you take the premise to the simplest extreme logic it would have to be the egg, simply because dinosaurs were laying eggs before birds ever roamed the earth.

Then there's also the premise that since there are NO birds that give birth live, and that since they evolved from dinosaurs, and there were also no dinosaurs that gave birth to live young, that would further the egg verdict.

Yes, there were some prehistoric creatures that gave birth to live young, but they were not "true" dinosaurs. They were also aquatic creatures, like prehistoric fish and amphibians.

OK, now that's the most thinking I've had to do since I filled out my tax return.

Oh, and I would rather know this: "Which taste better, the chicken or the egg?"

The chicken made a contribution and the pig made a commitment.
