Blue crabs galore

Crossed the bridge today and hammered the blue crabs. Between my 5 y.o. daughter and I we got 70 blue crabs. Dinner was excellent. Tomorrow she wil get her first tuna. With some help of course.

What parts of a blue crab does one typically eat?

I haven't chased blue crabs in a LONG time but I've really been wanting too lately. Will need to take the little guy out and get a few dozen. And some Old Bay!

went with my friend TED

my first adventure with blue crabs out of falmouth

we had no trouble catching them

but he brought no bucket or box Nothing!

he just let them go on the bottom of the boat

until we had like 50 of them all pissed off and trying

to pinch us from every direction, that it was quite exciting.

My ONLY foray into the world of blue crabs was down in Delaware a few years back.
Cooked up with some Old Bay, served with a cold beer
It was as close to heaven as you could get without dying!

Lots of them around the salt pond, but most of them are just little guys.

I'm guessing these are easier to catch, then say, Alaskan King Crab?

in MA you don't need a license to handline and dip net right? I think you only need a license to pot them?

Don't worry wife and other kid were there just didnt want anything to do with raw chicken and looking into the water for "crabs" . We were well within the limit 4 x 25 = 100 blues.

It's 30 dead cows, and I'm not complaining, just sayin'... And no worry, workin on a newer and improved pic, it's just that I am so happy in that pic...

And go figure... New england lobstermen are blaming the lack of Lobsters on too many striped bass. It appears striped bass are more finicky than we all thought! Now they want lobsters over blue claws??? Its all just so damn confusing!

I guess we'll have to step up and "take one for the team"
Or in this case 25, 25 lovely, tasty sea faring snacks stewed in Old Bay, served with an ice cold pilsner.....wait, where was I?

Oh yeah, now I remember.... I'm willing to do my part to help keep their numbers in check.
