Hello all I am new here.

Hello guys and girls, I am new a beginning striper fisherman, I mostly fish for Striped Bass and Catfish. I bought me a 7' Ugly Stik ML Striper Rod sometime ago I am looking for a reel to go on it I am a Abu Garcia Fan. I have a little information to go on but not enough. to chose a reel without any help. Note! I am going to be fishing below dams and lakes from the shore for freshwater striped bass.

for an economical reel you cant beat a shimano sedona 5000 its reliable and will fit that 7 footer pretty well. Put on some 15 or 20 pound braid and it will work pretty well for you. I put one on my 7 foot loomis 843

Welcome. Look at the the Abu Revo (lighter) or Abu Record (heavier).

I choice the Abu 6500C3 or the Abu Record 60. I already have a 6500C3 that I use for catfishing. Its a great reel for that purpose.
