FIRST FISH - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

I was loking threw my log book of last year, and noticed I had caught my first fish from the Weweantic river on April15. There
was a light s. west wind, the air temp was 50 deg, the water 47.

Unfortunately,I don't think we will have a spring like that,after this past winter.

I thought it would be interesting to know when you guys hooked up for the first time last spring,and when you think the fish will show this season.

For me first night out last year was in NY Harbor on April 1...First Fish of the year was 42" 21lbs on Bunker. Nice way to start the season. Usually started out with smaller fish. Don't start fishing Rhody til first week of June.

Usuallly get my first fish back in some local rivers here in NJ, some shorts but keepers are there if ya fish soft plastics reeaaallly slow, otherwise it's bunkers for me. Last year March 28th, landed an 18# on my third cast with a white ice Fin-S, and had a 10# weakie on the next cast, skunked the rest of the night.
