I dunno about that.... Saw some limited topwater feeding locally that we normally used to see in late August, signalling the beginning of the fall run. Fall spots. Fall feeding. Got two calls today about the same. The weather may or may not erase what appears to be getting started. There were micros caught by me, but I saw some big tail slaps. All bass. I hope it is an abnormal late start and with the still warm water temps, we'll have fish here for another month
On ther other hand, I had live macks Saturday and Sunday and couldn't entice anything.... Did see a huge grey seal inside the harbor Will probably pull the boat this weekend, or next at the latest.
So shore fishing has been better for me lately, though not cutting back my braid and changing leaders has cost me a plug or two.....combination of laziness and not paying attention to surf rules.

Even I am not thinking of quitting yet...still a month to go, although most of the big stuff already went by,IMO.

It's not the bait

Long way to go??? You could say that in Augst maybe but it's October now. Here on the cape things are slowing down bigtime all over. I have seen a big blow like the one we have coming shut things down many times before.. I will probably quit sometime around halloween but there are no big blitzes or mass schools of slobs around here right now that I know of. The backside maybe the best bet for that but it certainly won't last long. What a funky year. One season ends and another begins, the bow is calling, deer pheasant and turkey season open very soon and I will go through the painful process of calling it a season and replace the rod with the smoke stick.

Things should be heating up for the fall run!

I agree with Ross....a recent visit to the favorite MH shore spot exhibited loads of bait..and a few very big tails --but they wouldn't take my plugs---After a great season at Crane Beach, I am back to the North of North Shore...
Ross, Hope to see you, Doc on your favorite rocks !!

The water off of Plum Island is 54....saturday morning, the only bird activity from great Boars head to Crane beach was at the outflow of the dredge....very unusual for this time of year....

A good run is better than a bad stand!

Good going Ernie
glad there are still some stupid large around

I think it's gonna be good until November
