He didn't do this on his own. The Players Union strongly advised him to report.

He could definitely make the team better.
He'll probably be put on the roster, dressed and BB will make him watch from the sidelines for the first game.

It's inevitable that all these holdouts get hurt when they return.
Look at Revis, last year best cb in NFL, this year playing at 75% to nurse his pulled hamstring through the season.

From what I've seen of the Pats this season, they should put him in at LG ASAP, because Light needs all the help he can get.
Why they didn't keep Vollmer at LT and switch Light over to RT is beyond me. Vollmer was one of last year's best finds at LT after Light went down.

Pretty smart observation for a Giants fan. Mankins will be playing as soon as he's ready. The Pats are already thin at o-line and need him. He plays with the same mean streak that Vollmer has, too. And it's been reported that the relationship between Mankins and the Pats (including Belichik) isn't as bad as a lot of people think. He's still very popular with his teamates.

After the Browns this Sunday, they have the Steelers and Colts on back to back weeks. At this point of his career, I don't think that Light can handle quick rushers like Harrison and Freeney without help.

What I see of Light these days is him chasing his man, who got by him, hoping to push him down before Tom gets sacked. Tom gets hit pretty often these days...I like Matt but he seems to be a little heavy and slow. If he asks, I didn't say it...
I'd bet Mankins is ready now, he's an independent sob, his own man. Rare bird these days.
