Small fish Id?

Pulled this out of the gills of a schoolie a couple weeks ago. Couldn't tell if it was attached to the bass? Or the bass spit it up during the fight and it got lodged in it's gills.

tough to tell from the photo, but w/o a book in front of me it looks like an ocean pout.
