crazy dreams since my dad died.
The dreams are getting better. Time helps. I can laugh now and read and think about fish. I wrote this piece for my blog-type-thing. This piece is about dreams. Fishing is part of it. If you got a second give it a read. I know some of you have already read it.

It's perfectly normal. My dad will have been dead for 30 years come this next November, and he still appears in my dreams occasionally.

Dreams are where you "work out the trauma" of Loosing your DAD so suddenly Goosefish...
as it was a total shock to your system....so when your not busy with normal day to day activities involving both mind and Body
you try to mentally make sense of it all ...to rationalize his quick departure with Imagery of stored Mental Pictures in a collage
that your unable to collate into a logical timeline....
Everyone has their own personal belief system where you view or choose not to view an afterlife....how it is...what it is...
and i like to think of each sojourn into life as kind of a curriculum that you chose to experience similar to electing to take certain courses in college to achieve a particular degree of proficiency At something
Time in the afterlife is non existent... and when its "your time" it will only seem like a moment for your DAD to finally see you again
whereas for you ....it'll feel like an eternity....
You can take comfort Knowing that he's waiting and that a day will come when you re- unite in spirit form where thoughts are like our words..... focus on best of times you had and Glean the wisdom
he spoke ....it's all in your head archived ....every moment
finding those files takes time .... recently i had my DAD (gone 30 years as well) (in a dream) ask me for a sandwich and i found that to be hilarious....

a year is not enough time Dave..
merely one revolution... Takes longer
than that... to re- feel Joy
remember the laughter moments
and it makes you feel better

Time for me to catch a native brook trout. I dreamt of him last night too. A group of us were walking through a boat yard. He loved boat yards. Wooden boats. Old fishing boats.

The dreams will evolve over time, as will the feelings, and the loss. It never leaves, but it does evolve. My sister posted a photo of my dad on facebook, it gets me today.
Things will change, evolve. Even in time, every now and then you will get one that shakes your core.
My father has been gone almost 9 years, I still tear up on a particular Mike & The Mechanics song on the radio.

It's all so heavy. Easier to talk about snap swivels and the true holding power of pyramid sinkers. My mother, I feel for her. I see her nearly every day. It's good my brother and his family live close as well. My mom and dad met in high school. They never dated anyone else. If I feel this way about him being gone what must she feel? Gives me a stomach ache. 50 years together. There then gone.
