I was at a bead show with my wife, who does jewelry, not me, at the embassy hotel a few doors away on Sunday Monday and when we left I saw now traffic in or out of the venue Saltdog. It just didn't look busy at all.

I went on Friday from 10-3.Spoke with a few folks.Picked up a couple of capes[flatwing] and a couple of hen capes for eyes.Whiting put a large increase in their capes[30-50%].It was OK but......Next year an over nighter at Somerset is going to be way to go.Tying materials are getting pretty thin at Marlboro.Bears Den[scott],Whitewater[Greg] and the booth on the back wall.That was about it.I know it's hard times and not to be negative best I can.

ALERT--> you SHOULD be
watching the QUALITY of feathers what you buy,(unless you dont care what they look like) DON'T be afraid to OPEN them up an check threw, I remember seeing $30.00 packs w/ feathers missing in them. doesn't say much for the VENDER, I also have problems, guys PACKAGING there OWN. Ive had to return some, wont mention any names . QUALITY has gone WAY DOWN. w/ less an less fly shops around you SHOULD be able to find GOOD QUALITY feathers, make them take the extra step an NOT buy JUNK FEATHERS just because they can make a EXTRA BUCK on YOU. ENOUGHT SAID
GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN

Agreed!!! that's why I go to the shows.That way I can open the bags and fan the feathers.I've actually had a couple of minor "issues" with previous vendors that didn't want me opening the product.I explained my reason why and that the product would be replaced as well as it was prior to me opening it.I didn't have a problem after that "discussion".What I really noticed was the lack of good bucktails in different shades.Hmmmm?????!!!!I forgot you were going to be tying there I would have stopped and said hello.

you should have swung buy I gave away a bunch of FLATWINGS, even had an oldtimer staring at them for a while an asked if they were kennys flies, an if they were for SALE I said they were tied by me. I gave him one, you should have see his eyes light up, looked like a little kid getting some candy. dont think he will fish it. hope he enjoys it. BUCKTAILS the booth where Jack Gartside use to be. he had HUNDREDS of them even PASTEL COLORS all for $5.00 I grabbed a few off colors for my flatwings.

I hear 'ya. I thought she POSTED already, could be wrong I picked up some OLD TAIL at the pelham show last year the tails were
12" long an the HAIRS were 5" long were from RUMPE. GREAT stuff for saltwater. I use to buy from them YEARS ago if I remember Brad Guage was one of there salseman, you always got QUALITY PRODUCT , an if anything did'nt look good they always exchanged it for what you wanted, to bad GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE no longer EXISTS.
