Water Temps...

Well I got out on the water yesterday, I was testing a new prop and new trim tabs. The water temps are still real low, outside of the West Wall they were 38-39 degrees, in the back of the pond on the rte 1 side they were 41. This stint of cold weather sure isn't helping things, and snow coming tonight argggggg!

I've been out a half-dozen times so far and it's cold everywhere. It was 43 in upper Salt Pond on Tuesday. BTW I ended up getting a 19-foot Quinnie with a DF 115 from Mike at B.O.A.T.S. and I love it.

'Hope to see you on the water.

179 how did the tabs work? What brand did you get? I am thinking of getting some this season but have not made up my mind yet.

Bob,
Congrats on the new boat from B.O.A.T.s. I don't know much about the Quinnie (quintrex) boats, but you know I love the DF-series motors. My last 18' boat had the DF-115, and the boat was pretty quick with it, the fuel mileage was incredible. Mike is a good guy there and will take care of you.... I now have the DF-140 and my next boat will have either the DF-225 or DF-250. Hope to see you out there...

GBOUTDOORS,
I ended up getting the Lenco 12x12" Tabs, and I have to say that I only have about 30-mins on them but I already can tell you they are worth every cent. What I have noticed so far: With the tabs slightly trimmed down the boat is about 1/2-1 second quicker to plane, 1-2 mph faster on the top end, and now I have the control to keep my boat traveling through the water level, regardless of wind, load, and sea conditions. I'm still learning how to use them but so far it's a marked improvement.

I was at the boat around noon today, swapping props I took a quick ride and water temps were still 41 degrees but I was marking fish on the FF, last week I was not.....
