Thanks To All & Update

First I want to thank everyone for the well wishe's.It certainly helps to know people care. Here is a brief explanation of what is going on with our daughter.

I took this time to stop by quik and let eveyone know where we stand. We just got home at 3pm this afternoon and the wife and ali are sleeping. My daughter has been having terrible urinary track infections for the past couple of years,This was due to a condition known as "reflux" The urinary tubes that travel between her kidneys and bladder never formed right from birth and her urine backs up and causes kidney infections. It is very dangerous and can cause perminent scarring on the kidneys and lead to kidney transplants,We certaintly did not want to face that prospect. We instead decided to fix those tubes!! The success rate is 98percent and we have every reason to think our daughter is in that group. You may not want to read all this but,I put it here so everyone would know exactly what was going on and, with all the well wishes I figured you all may have some interest.

The surgery which lasted 5 aganizing hours! went well,The reson it took so long was that eveything was intricate according to the doctor and nost of it had to be done with the surgeon wearing binocular like glasses,Still, It was long and we worried the whole time. The doctor told us that her condition was severe and that we made the right choice in moving forward with this operation.

Ali has a bigger cut in her tummy than we thought she would have and that was somewhat of a shock when we first saw it.The doc assures us that as she grows older the scar will shrink. We came home with 4 different "meds" to give her at various times day and night for the next two weeks,That in iteslf is going to be tough to keep track off.All in all this is for the better and soon it will be all behind us.

The worst part for me is that it kills her to urinate and there isnt much we can do about that but try to console her as best we can.Thankfully, that should only last a few more days.

Again, the doctor said the operation was a complete success from his standpoint and she should bounce back fast!!

For now the phone is off the hook and we are going to sleep and tend to Ali!! I truly appreciate all the well wishes !! Hopefully my mind will be back on fishing in the near future and I will post some more,Thank you all....Bill.......

Bill, nothing recovers faster and more completely than a child, Ally will be fine, the worst is over. Get yourself some sleep. Extra hugs and kisses until all the boo-boos go away, and she'll be casting next to you before you know it. God bless, bud.

Hi Bill, glad to hear the operation went good, I know a little about tissue and organ stuff, sounds like it all went well, as for the scarring, just a little tip for you after the incision heals well on the outside, every day just rub a little vitamin E oil or lotion on it and it will fade quite well. I had a historectomey a few years ago and you would never know it. The scar faded well, and as Ali is so little, hers will probably fade even better. Just a thought to try and help. I am sure you guys must be exausted, Baitcaster and I wish you all well and a speedy recovery for Ali.

Bill, that 5 hours had to be the longest, but it sounds as though things went well.

Like others have said, alot of hugs, maybe some ice cream... a cookie or two... spoil that kid rotten... that's my best advice.

Good luck.
