weird stuff on a trip

was out Saturday fluking, came across a bunch of things I never saw before

1. while fishing live snappers, watched a squid follow my bait back to the boat, latch on to the snapper when I paused. This happened 2 X in different locations

2. Fought what I thought was a monster fluke until I landed the largest skate (maybe it was a ray?) . thing was huge, about 3 feet from wing to wing, must have weighted 8 pounds. Man was I disappointed

3. My buddy landed a fluke that would have been a decent keeper except that it didnt have a tail. Must have been bitten off by a blue years ago. I think clammer posted a pic of this while back

We caught about 15 fluke, only 3 were keepers. Great day on the water and saw some interesting things

making s-b.com a kinder, gentler place for all

1. Not uncommon, squid account for the light hits you sometimes feel reeling up.
2. I get those monster skate in the surf on squid every May. had a few that were over 10lbs

glad you got some fish
