Inshore SBFT

You always hear about that season 5-6?? years ago when the SBFT tuna bit was insane about 1/2-1 mile offshore. Was that only 1 season and never happened again? Has anyone had any luck with one here and there in the past seasons inshore??? Whats the deal with these fish?

That was INSANE !!!

And one of the great things was that these fisher were hitting more striper & blue gear than the typical tuna stuff.

25-30# footballs on Pencil Poppers
Purely guessing with near zero credibility: We just lucked out that a school of that age was around for several weeks. Tuna, I'm told, grow fast and we just lucked out with the Tuna equivalent of a harbor loaded with millions of peanuts.

I had a shot at some less than 100 yds off the beach on BI this past August. They were chasing halfbeaks.

Every once in a while you will see footballs running from the beach at the race. Pretty amazing when it happens.
