Great story and photos. I regret not making it to the block this year. It was the first year I've missed in a while...

Wonderful account of your trip to the Block, Dennis. I should be so eloquent. My partner and I spent a few days at the end of October on island, and we worked awfully hard for the few fish we caught as well.

Great re-cap of your trip. Funny, this was the first year i have ran into some turkeys out there. I also got my left front tire pecked at for a few minutes. The hens just watched the tom go after me, so did the BI version on the UPS guy, he was cracking up. It was all fun and games until i tried to snap a picture with my phone, as soon as my hand cleared the window he jumped right up at me.

Everything is better on the rocks.

No it didn't. I got on Island Tuesday morning and just got home. Fished my A$$ off for 2 1/2 days. 1 Blue about 10# and last night finally got 1 bass around 15-16#. Fished all the regualr spots and some not so regular. Island is really dead right now but big squid started showing Tuesday night in Old Harbor so there could be a push coming.

No boat, back in the suds.

A friend of mine was out there in September and had very little luck. One of his least productive trips, he said.

DZ, great story. You are correct in saying success can't always be measured in fish caught but in the company of good friends.

Nice write up Dennis! I fished block for the first time earlier this year with limited success but had an awesome time even with the slow fishing.
