Question Century S1 Stealth

Its been about 10 years sence I built any rods. Now that Im retired and bored I took up building rods again LIKE I DON,T HAVE ENOUGHT NOW.Question just purchase a Century S1 Stealth blank whats with the butt section how come its so thick.Looking for ideas on a handle on this blank and I know reel seat is a personel thing but where is the best location for the seat on a spinning rod setup. Im thinking about 21 inches to the reel stem that way the reel seat will be just above the thickest part of the blank.Sound about right

What sized reel you putting on it?
I have a 10 gsb1L which is a similar rod built for a 5000 shimano reel.
It's reel stem is 22" from the butt.
I used a Fuji NPS seat that is more comfortable than a standard seat.
xflock shrink wrap over cork tape.

Great selection of the blank. I love the 10 foot Stealth. To me its an easy casting all around plugging and eeling rod for 1 to 4 OZ. I think people are afraid to load the S1 Stealth to its true capabilities at higher deflections and therefore only see the rod at about 80 percent of its true capability.

The reel seat location is not based on the rod dimensions. You put the seat where you like it for casting. Many people like a spinner in that 20 -24 inch range. Some like shorter or longer. On a conventional many people go 28 or 32 or even longer.

Now it does happen that many feel better casting shorter lighter rods with shorter reel seat locations , especially on spinners but the S1 Stealth is not a short light rod so you 21 should be good.

The VS 150 should fit a 18 seat. You might want to consider a 20 though unless you have very small hands.

The butt section of the Stealth and many Century blanks is made to not flex. All the action is in the tip section. Thats why its thick and very stiff. I think that kind of butt section is perfect on manyCentury rods from the 10 foot Stealth to the various heavier Tip Tornado models.
