2011 S-B Angler of the Year Award - Nominations thread
OK - its that time to NOMINATE (not vote) for the 2011 Striped-Bass.com Angler of the Year.
Remember, NOMINATION, not voting part? Top nominees will be entered in a poll to determine who the S-B.com COMMUNITY feels the Angler of the Year.
Simple Rules:
* Angler needs to be a member with (at least) regular particularization PARTICIPATION (damn autocorrect) in 2011. Should be based on great angling, not soley on being a great S-Ber and and all around good fellow.
* Name only
* Member needs TWO nominations (nomination and seconded)
I'll take these names for nomination for this week and put up an anonymous poll after for voting. Member needs TWO nominations (a/k/a nomination and seconded). Winner to be announced at TFCTFN)
I've been slammed busy on a bunch of stuff but want to get this done
Nominated so far:
Piemma
Rockfish9
Rappin Mikey
Nightfighter
Niko
PRBuzz
Slipknot
ProfessorM
BasicPatrick
D.Z.
Westportmafia
People with one vote that would need seconding:
Timmah
FishingFreak
Raider Ronnie
Unfortunately, RoyL, Biteme, and ChatamBlue30 don't meet the minimum posts for 2011
And for those seriously (or jokingly ) putting my name it earlier I wasn't much of an Angler last year

I nominate John R. Not because he is a good fisherman. Because he is a great man.

I'll second him. He's also well rounded. He fishes hard and fishes a lot from both boat and shore.

I recommend PRBuzz (Phil Buzzby), he is always willing to take people on his boat, he fishes just about year round as well as a variety of fish. i don't think he ever puts his boat away.
He also takes the time to help teach others new techniques and methods with great patients. He is also a great humanitarian, as he has cleaned up more trash from the ocean then i have ever seen, it could be a balloon or a random boogie board Buzzy is there!
He also puts up with ODMikes flatulence.

Hey, it's called striped-bass.com, not scup.com or tuna.com.

I'll nominate Nightfighter....He has brought many people to this site, has run the Cutty Trip for the past 6-7 years, has taken members from here out on his boat.
not to mention he had a great season last year and boated his first Fiddy..

I nominate biteme, took a newbie under his wing, helped and still helps people learning to build plugs. Takes others out fishing both by boat and by shore. All the while putting up with Mr.striper. I mean that has to be worth something right there

Rockfish9.
This fella is giving of his time to plugbuilders on multiple sites, but especially here, and to Plugfest.
There is not an off season for him. Contributes to the ice fishing forum and spoke to the PISC meeting on ice fishing tactics.
He produces year after year. Has numerous fifties to his credit. Does C&R these days. Never hesitant to share advice when asked, and he is the first one I solicit because he has the experience, time on the water, and has thought it through.
This year, last year, or next year. Doesn't matter. It is kind of an ongoing thing with Joe!

rockfish 9, always helpful, builds great plugs, and for me the biggest part is catch and release, he had a great year from the pics he posted and was nice to see a lot of big girls released.
good luck to evertone who gets nominated

Piemma --- Fished around 40 days (prob more) with him last year on his boat... Caught and released at a minimum 2 fish every outing, most days tripled that. Also had my first REAL year of success from shore due to his infinite wisdom.

I would nominate Rockfish9 also. He is a great guy who always shares what he can with others and few have as many years under their belt of catching big fish consistently.

I'll say should get an award just for admitting knowing Ernie.

What about Niko? He's always fishing, putting stuff together and offering room on his boat to anyone on the site. Nevermind the free tuna steaks!
