Opening Day Cod Limited out and some healthy Haddock too
Headed north today and found a nice mix of cod and haddock. 5:1 shorts to keepers but had a few around 28" A few hours and we were limited out and went hunting for haddock. We headed out deeper to the east and were rewarded with some healthy haddock to go along with the cod. The nice thing was the fact that there was only one other boat was in the area. Nice ride out but not so nice on way in.
How do you post pics from an iPhone.

i left early this am out of newburyport , hit a few of my usual inshore cod spots(6-13 miles out) nothing! so we made the treak to jefferies and procided to limit out on haddock in no time. found some cod but few and all were shorts. Wierd usually i have no problem finding cod and haddock are the rarer catch.....little switch up i guess....? Even odder all caught on jigs and flys (also gulp minnows in place of flys)

nice work boys. i think it's a pretty common misconception that haddock don't like jigs. maybe we'll get lucky and have a banner year for haddock like 2 years ago

Haddock love jigs.. I down size my hooks on my cod jigs for this reason.. it also cuts down on fish damage as well...and with the smaller hook alot of cod a lipped shut with all three tines..
Nice Job guy's I had to put my first cod trip off until Saturday... too busy at work to steal a day...

Way to go Matt, I'm looking for a weather window to get out there.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

3-5 & 4-6 is no problem it's the 5-8's when the dishes start falling out of the cabinets and the coffee maker tips over.

Take Niko he is the master. Went today in my buddy Billys 23t contender, steady pick all day. What a sweet boat. The forecast was for a small craft but winds were light and seas lest than 2 feet .No haddock and 1 pollock but the cod bite was pretty good. Taking Codfeesh,Keepereaper and Niko out there would fill the boat in no time. Thanks for all the good intel Matt.
