Reversal of Ditch Good Fortune....
After a banner day on Thursday, yesterday produced only 1 hit for me, and today just one fish.....and no other hits.....saw no sign of the Striped One no matter who I talked to....
Gotta be the drop in temp, I guess....just nasty this morning....
Was good to see JP drag his half-weakened butt out to heave some lead.....good company as usual...met JJ18 and Fishaddict, too....
Some conflicting forecasts regarding the weather for the next couple of days.......plan to be fishing though, rain or shine....

harrible...it was the classic fish on the first cast curse...you should know by now that to appease the ditch gods you need to hang up your jig on the first cast, not hook up...
btw, real nice meeting you and finally putting a face with the name...
fishaddict, turn your rod right side up please...
i'm painting jigs tonight, be back there tomorrow, same time, same channel...
dave got skunked with herring along the agawam... this is officially the worst herring season we've had since we started fishing herring...

Harry, have to agree with JJ. If you stick one on the first cast, pack up and move somewhere else

I had two small fish on and didn't land either. Short cautious grabs. they weren't wacking them. rest of the night , nothing. we tried 3 spots and fished about 3.5 hours total.
that's fishing!

sorry but that is true sometimes but I have landed some of my largest bass after nailing fish on the first cast, you just never know. I have also been skunked after a fish on the first cast.
Good to hear they are eating lead now

Thanks
Thanks for the reports guys, at least you are getting out. Last memorial day I camped out at the ditch with my fiance. Thank god we didn't repeat the same thing this year..
Hopefully this cold weather will alleviate those august doldrums, but something tells me that it will heat up just as fast when we don't want it to.
Tightlines,
Stroth

caught a 29in striper yesterday in falmouth.. had insane problems with seaweed (mung).. strange though, considering the tides and the fact the wind was blowing out towards sea...

Think i'll probably be standing on Jetty's rock if he don't get there before me...
Want to bring my new upside down and backwards rod.. but think I should let it dry for another day or two...

no fish
I donated 5-6 jigs today 3 on the last 3 casts o I called it quits. The canal owes me next time I'm down there. There seems to be even more snags in the canal than last year

Always seems like more snags early on. all the stuff that built up over the winter has to be hauled out. I pulled up lots of bait rigs friday night. The area we were fishing is full of baitcasters this time of year. I had tired arms and a sore back by the end of the night. also pulled in huge piles of kelp. Tough as pulling in a big fish.
