Well I'll share what Ive been hearing. Bonito still solid just south of the vineyard and on the Nantucket bars but nothing substantial north of these areas, though there has been action reportedly in eastern LI sound.

It was gangbusters for a couple weeks, very nice fish too. It has slowed a little but they are still around in numbers. Frankly, I am already tired of them, waiting on albies now.

Inside, a much slimmer pick. They are being caught (even a couple from shore) but nothing like outside. Don't waste your time inside (yet), but they will come inside.

dense schools of 4" sandeels are what they are feeding on just offshore.

Be just south of the islands at daybreak with a deadly #^&#^&#^&#^& or crystal minnow, it is pretty much a sure bet.

awesome. I can't wait for them to get close enough to use a tin boat to get em. Just finished up a new bunch of metal to throw at them too.

Was out all day again all day today....they were pretty darn thick I got a few even a couple 14+# fish. They are swiming with the tuna and feeding on squid like no tomorrow, squid all over the boat. All are double digit fish. Only 2 school tuna today but a boatload of fun with the albies.

I was about 8-10 miles southeast of the hooter. I know they got a few out of the hooter today in the morning early, not a lot were caught there but they were caught. Howerer the bonito fishingis insane there right now. Big fish too. I could hear them on the radio doubles triple hookups. One boat I think had 22 fish during a single charter. ALso there are a ton of bass out there, not to mention a steady pick of bluefish. But the bonito fishing is as hot as it gets.

Found my first bonito today, actually got 2! Thanks Mr. S for the intel. Glad we got an early start, smooth as glass heading out and until about 10am, then the SW'er kicked in big time.

Couldn't hook up with an albie but saw them busting under the birds.

A little of the fun from yesterday:

Bonito Fishing video by PRBuzz - Photobucket

(sound only in 1st 1/2 video to protect the guilty)

Used Penn450 & 550ssg reels with 20lb Sufix NEON FIRE braid (thnx Skippy for the great deal). Once on board, bled and iced quickly. GoPro chest mount.

Anyone have any good recipes? Found one on-line that says marinate in equal parts butter/Worcestershire/lime juice then grill.

I've never seen them there, but the Rock Harbor guys were saying on the radio that it would happen every now and then in the 70's and 80's.

Gracias, I'll bet they're a blast on a fly rod. I did like the multi-purpose deadly #^&#^&#^&#^& today to pick away at sea bass/scup and fling at the the albies when they popped up.
