Early ending

Shifter shaft went on the boat today.... Back to the mooring in reverse. Have to finish a job this afternoon, so will have to haul out sometime this week. More than likely a season ending breakdown. But I had a great run this season.....

Not sure what you have for an engine. I have a used Yahama shaft off a 200HP Salt Water Series in my garage. I think it's off a 1998

Thanks all.

Chris, I'll let you know... thanks for the offer.

Piscator, it is a 1993 Yamaha 200 carburated two stroke.

My guy is ordering one tomorrow. Should be able to clear the schedule with work so I can haul out mid week. Hopefully it is a quick job. Pull the powerhead on a lift, out with the old, in with the new, new gasket and tighten it up. Power wash the bottom, a little On/Off at the waterline, refuel, and put it back in...... Yeah right.... We'll see. I have Bob Huddy coming for a bass tourney on the 29th, so just want it back by then.

Again, no complaints. Been a good run. That shaft has seen a lot of forward, neutral, forward, neutral in its time. It's a real nice sound when it's gone.......not

I feel your pain brother...

I was stranded this morning with a mutual friend, luckily - I didn't like the way it sounded or felt so we stayed close to the ramp...thank GOD I keep a set of oars on the boat, had to paddle back to the ramp,,,,,,

Boats are SOOOOOOOO much fun.....luckily there's no rust on my surf-gear

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

Salem will be a quieter at last. The thing got so bad ross would cruise over a school of bass, then shift, and the grinding noise would actually stun the bass. He would then cast a snag hook, and drag them back to the boat sideways, as seen in this picture.

Good luck with repairs. I am sure we could come up with a plan B for the weekend and/or tourny.

Hauled out yesterday, bottom cleaned, and dropped to Boat Shop by this morning. Seems I should stick to what I know.... it was a stretched shifter cable. Fortunately it had enough left to adjust, even though it is original equipment. Ready to launch as soon as this system passes, but not upset to being out during this expected blow... Fall back on!

It's a good learning lesson... in the future.. always disconect and manualy move anything that is controled by a cable... I wouldn't trust a stretched cable..what it means is it sliped where it was crimped and is likely to happen again.. cable replacement is the only real cure..
Hopefully it gets you trough the season...

A good run is better than a bad stand!
