Shimano Spheros

Does anyone own one of the new style Spheros? I was thinking about picking up the 8000 for a friend and I was wondering what your opinions are?

Thanks

I can't wait to get one!! I have four of the old spheros (4000's and 5000's). The new ones have improvements and new tech. that should make them even better. I think if you look at price there's nothing in that class that comes close. Good luck(and I h

ope I have mine as soon as you have yours).
PS.--From the specs in the catalogs it looks like the old standby 4000 and 5000 numbers don"t cut it --I think you're right 8000

I am wondering why anyone would buy the 6000 over the 8000 when the 8000 holds more line and weighs less? Maybe for matching the spool diameter with the gathering guide but to me it makes no sense.

Anyway, the Spheros internals look just like my Tica Camry. I have used my Camry 3500 on schoolies so far and I like it but I don't know how durable it is going to be. The 8000 is almost twice the price of my camry but obviously bigger. I guess that I will have to buy one and see.
