Dodged the Grim Reaper

The office decided to close early, 2 miles from work I happened to glance back in the rear view and saw a shower of sparks. I figured a limb had come down on a wire or transformer and I kept going, only to run into a backhoe, cruiser and fire engine blocking the road around the next bend. Looked like that was going to be a while, so I flipped it around figuring I'd go out an alternate route right back by the office driveway. Back where I'd seen the sparks there is a big ass oak laying right directly across the road. You don't get much closer then that, I figured 3 seconds later to that spot and my son is inheriting a really nice boat and a ton of fishing gear.

I flipped around again, thinking yeah I'm lucky but now I'm trapped in this 500 yard stretch of back road with no way out, but luckily the other tree was only alongside the road and they were now letting people by. Stopped and bought quick picks on all the games and spent the rest on scratch tickets. We will see on the quick picks, but I won $50 and played for 15 minutes, putting my initial $20 investment back in my pocket for luck.

Careful driving, keep your eyes up as well as forward.

I said the same thing... then about an hour ago I checked the fridge and noticed we are out of beer. No problem, I'll just have some wine... nope, cabinet is empty.

Only thing left to do was hope there was a liquor store still open at the strip mall down the street. Out of the 9 or 10 stores there, the liquor store was the only one open. Phew....
