it depends what you are using it for. I like Motion X for hiking and hunting, it's free. I can record tracks, trails and waypoints, including treestand locations. I them email them to myself and deposit them in Google Earth, and can make a great map of my hunting area showing treestands, trails, etc..

I have motion X as well. It works good as long as you don't need voice guidance it is free. I use a Tom Tom though just due to the screen size

Yes. As long as both are iPhones and you use the same apple ID. Not sure about droid
