"less than a dollar".....
The peas or the strawberries?
Are the berries June bearers or ever-bearers?
(Most don't know or don't ask, and then gripe that their berries are small (ever-bearing) or that they get big berries, but only one harvest (June bearing).

I had some years ago that I planted in the back yard, but too close to a crab apple tree. They did not produce and more than half died due to the lack of ample sun and nutients (competing with tree roots).

The following year I dug up the survivors and replanted them in window boxes filled with some of the first compost of the year, and they EXPLODED in growth and berry production.

The 7 -10 plants that I rescued soon turned into enough plants to fill a
5X5 rasied bed and a decent harvest each year until my dumb brother decided to use the bed for his blueberry project (they still haven't produced one berry).

Come to think of it, he also destroyed my asparagas bed as well.......

I need a better brother, or one that knows/can learn how to garden.

**Just adding to the conversation.**

I am a legend in my own mind!

i was speaking of the strawberries ---- i got 50 plants and they have four inch roots
that are made for hanging pots from France no less... everbearing i believe, from Burpee
as they just arrived moments ago ...not much tops on them and it cost
me just $31.95 not counting shipping
gonna set up a production line tomorrow ...gonna grow them INSIDE this time
and it'll be no freakin chipmunks or SLUGS ALLOWED

when it's raining JUST right and the slugs are out in force having a party
i walk around searching for them with a container of salt and sprinkle it on them
turning them to a delightful Orange ooze

the sugar snaps (peas) i pre-soak with superthrive vitamin B1 added to the water for 100 times
more root growth until they begin to swell (ie germinating) then i plant them in pro-mix next to a fence.
Those i water 3 times a day ....
