Yes, there's been some good reports along the Seaside, Island Beach State Park area. Unfortunately the reports are not quite so good for Camden. The only thing you might catch there is yourself in a crossfire.

From what I'm gathering from 5/0's post, Fire Island might be where to stop for a blow. And no, I've never been there.
Definitely Camden for guns and needles.

If we're talking scary AND fishy then add Asbury Park to the list.
One of the most eerie places I've ever been. Went to a show there on NYE once. Had police cars lining the streets leaving the city to usher all us suburban white boys out of town. I felt more comfortable in Queens at 2am then I did there

If I may speak on the behalf of the entire nation, it seems as thou all of the senic coastal points of beautiful destinations are mostly occupied by the same team players.

south shore of LI is actually better (right now) for fishing.... but a boat would be a good idea. Jersey- I'd head for Mansquan; good inlet if yer bringing a boat and lotsa jettys in either direction to work the (sand) beach....

Perth Amboy, great neighborhood and great fishing.5/0 its not only the scenic coastal towns that colorful crowds like ,they also flock to the quiant towns up in the hills.as far as Fire island goes you have close to 32 miles of beach from moriches to fire island, much of which sees very little traffic fishing wise, and can be very productive at this time of the year.

Perth Amboy !!!!!! There's nothing there. I was born and raised there. Now don't pick on me for that. It wasn't my choice. I would head to Sandy Hook or ISB area.
