Youtube Car Repair
Just replaced my water pump on my 2003 Suburban.
I watched a Youtube video on how do it which was awesome! Done in 4 hours and most of that time was messing around with rusty clamps which I replaced with stainless steel.
I was never a gearhead so this is totally new to me and I thought it was so cool to fix it myself and save so much money. I did an alternator install and replaced a power window motor earlier this year. It is simply amazing what you can learn on youtube.
Anyone else have any other success stories on learning how to do something new via youtube?

It can be an awesome tool for sure but it on the flipside of that I hate that there are also some videos out there that are scary too. For example a "backcountry" camping video I saw not too long ago. If a newbie took some of the how to" advice in the video it could lead to a lot of potentially dangerous situations that the newbie would not even recognize if they didn't have the know how to begin with

YouTube has helped me many times. I usually wait until I'm pissed off and sweating before I decide to youtube it. And then the job is done! Lots of john deere help on there.

Built a few guns watching you tube, tons of other stuff too. Usually very informative until you look over at the suggested videos on right and see some smoking hot females doing whatever...right about then is when progress comes to a screeching halt.

Got a quote on a replacement Heater Core for my Jeep Cherokee @$1000. Heater Core was $50.....labor was $950+ (10 hour charge) !!! YouTube saved me big time. I did have to rip the whole dash out and the Grand Cherokee I have is loaded to the max so there were lots of plugs, etc. I ripped it out after work one night....replaced the heater core, and put the dash back in the next morning....SOLO. A mechanic friend of mine said I was nuts to do it by myself and that it was a big job. YouTube had a 3 part video of all the steps. Saved me a GRAND....and to top it all off, the new heater core worked, I had no extra screws and everything else (surprisingly) worked as well. A valuable tool for sure...youtube.
