Another proud Dad

Bottom line is I couldn't be prouder of Anthony whether he ever caught a fish, but this day was special. Up at 4:30, on the water by 6, rode bikes and fished for almost 4 hours without a sniff. As was the plan, we took a diversion to Sandwich Theatre at 10:30 to see Guardians of the Galaxy(and for Dad to catch a few Zzzzz's). Lunch then back to the wrong end of the Ditch for 3 more hours of waiting. Nuttin.

On a hunch, headed to one more spot and as soon as we got there, fish were driving macks on the rocks. After missing a fish on a fresh mac he went back to casting his magic swimmer and got slammed in close. Fish on!

This was his first fish on a rod that I just built for him(gsb108L) and his Penn Fierce with 14# fireline. I really wasn't sure what the rod could handle and when the line started peeling I was a little concerned. Probably a 10 minute battle, and he had NO idea how big the fish was until I lifted it. The expression on his face was priceless!

45", 30.5#. Wow. He's 10, I was in my 30's before getting one that size

That is great Rick, he is probably hooked more than ever now. My boy just isn't into it yet, doesn't have the fishin bug. You got something special there congrats.

It's funny, he never had the bug the way that I do. I don't think he ever asked if we could go fishing. Whenevr we go, we make it about more than fishing. Always have a baseball/tennis ball with us. Many times at the canal we just play catch and ride bikes. I have always tried to have a time limit. The last thing I want is for him to hate to go. This was by far our longest day trip and it was so cool that it paid off at the end. He is looking forward to going back!

Way to go Anthony, a BIG congrats!

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

That is GREAT
Good for him and for you

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Those are great pictures. Nothing better than seeing a child catching a fish. Thanks for sharing!
