great white eating a seal

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of having a great white harvest a seal right in front of me. The 1st picture is from my cell cam but in my opinion is the best - it shows how close the hit was and my girlfriend in the picture gives you some idea as to how big the sucker was (I now figure it to be closer to14-17 feet than the 12-15 I have below). My girlfriend gets the credit for all of the other pictures - as soon as she saw the hit she dashed to the front of my truck, grabbed her camera and ran to the water.

I know some of you may have seen some of these pictures - I've sent the to assorted friends, and you know how the internet works, but here are some more and the story. This is what I sent to Saltfly when he asked me for details:

‘About 200 yards east of #8 at the sticks, her and I were walking back to the truck after a swim, just about at the truck she looked back at me and saw the hit - I think the seal popped out of the water to watch us an got smacked when it turned its back. Maybe 15 yards out in the corridor they travel, close to low maybe 6’ of water, a single seal medium sized maybe 300# or so. I think he killed the seal with the initial hit, pretty much cut it in half, didn’t see it move much after that. The shark gave it a minute to bleed out (you can see all of the blood in the water) and then returned to feed. Wish we had cameras like yours, she had a digital and I just had my cell, so you know how it goes with those – you push the button and the shutter takes time to fire, so I told her to just keep firing.

Maybe 12-15 ft long, ate the whole thing in about 3-4 minutes and was on its way. The pictures don’t do justice to how awesome the scene was. How many seals do you think simply disappear like that? No evidence. Doubt anyone would have know about it if we were not there.'

Enjoy!

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.
