Jacksonville Area Suggestions

Anyone familiar with the Jacksonville area that could provide some recommendations?

I will be down there November 17-20 for a seminar for work. I'll be tied up from 8 to 4:30 but will have early mornings and evenings to myself.

I'd love to get some fishing in in the evenings and could rent a car if it would be worthwhile. Looks like Fort George Inlet and Saint John's River are relatively close by. Fort George Inlet has a bridge that looks appealing but I am not sure if fishing is possible or allowed from it. Also nearby are Atlantic and Neptune Beaches. I will probably just be able to bring a medium weight travel rod.

Also, any tips on dining/shoping areas would be great. I think I am staying right near River City Marketplace.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Check in with a local fly shop down there ...they have good redfish and seatrout fishing ...you will want to find oyster bars adjacent to channels in the marshes ... there are a ton of creeks around there, but tend to be muddy so tough wading, a lot of guys go with kayaks ... there also is a state park in the Jacksonville area that has good redfish action in the surf ...
