slump
its killin' me. I know there are fish around. maybe not a ton of fish, but they're around. canal, flats, reefs, rivers..... even the clowns I work with had some fish one their neighbors boat too. and those guys who write blogs about largemouths are catching them too even
and I can't catch a friggin thing. was out 3 times with zimmy last week- he had 2 OK fish on the first trip, but he also got skunked the other 2 nights.
its maddening I tell ya..... friggin pissin' me off.

Don't think about it. You'll try too hard an just get more frustrated. Just go out an enjoy the fishin. It will turn around. Just go out an enjoy the fishing.

I'm in a slump also. had tons of pogies with my partner Chris yesterday morning. 4 hours of livelining and not one chase. We left one area and 15 minutes later someone from this site (no name mentioned) got a nice fish over 44".

No boat, back in the suds.

You should probably choose your associations more carefully, for a start.

Here on South Shore LI it is a very similar situation, 1 out of 6 trips I had 1 Bass that was maybe 22" tops. Even the bluefish are small and finicky. Bait is around too.
You aren't alone but at the same time remember fishing isn't solely about the fish, you get a gorgeous view and get away from civilization!

Fishing is the fairest sport there is. If your line is in the water you've got just about as much chance as anyone else.

Agree with big fish and Mr Jefferson about working hard and making your own luck. Fished hard from 330 to 6 am, nothing. Had confidence in lure and location and at 6 am saw a breaking fish and put lure on her head at absolute end of my casting range. One crank and on to a 40 inch freight train moving at full speed. First hit and fish since Friday and put in my time every day since. Just keep putting the lure ( or bait) in the water.

Slumps are part of fishing, man. Years back when I got serious about wetsuiting I had about 2 solid weeks of crummy fishing, and I'm talking 5 nights a week driving a half hour, walking a half hour to the spot and getting devoured by mosquitos there and back. I was feeling deflated, but then one night a 43-pounder tapped my eel about 15 feet in front of my rock and took off like a freak. It was the most exhilarating fishing hallmark of my life to that point. Needless to say I was reinvigorated, and whenever I'm in a perceived "slump" I realize that any day could be the day.

Come to Cape Cod Bay.
If your slump isn't broken - sell your gear.
(Seriously, sometimes a change of scenery can change your luck).
