Titanium pliers alternative
I just got hopefully my last set of fishing pliers. Have been waiting for a deal on 7" VS titanium second hand and happen to find the Cuda titanium pliers. Got them for $170 new with a leather sheath. The sheath won't fit my belt so I went with Auquaskins. Initial impression is very good they definitely seem to eliminate the fear of breaking the way the my aluminium pliers did. The aluminum failed where the screws held the jaw plate on 2 sets. (Too much torque trying to remove 5/0 vmcs from fish) If have any issues I will post them. If someone has them please post your opinion.
Just an option for almost half the cost.

If you want some vs pliers,put on a mask and go to Brayden Pt. where I dropped mine.

LOL thats why mine never leave the work bench. I bet half of those end up deep sixed thanks to Murphy. Some of those 40 to 50 buck ones work pretty good. Leatherman comea to mind.A peice of 60 to 80 lb pink andy makes a great lanyard.

I have a set of VS, but only use them on the boat. For the surf I got a generic aluminum set with cutters at the RISAA show several years ago. They torque out of alignment every so often but I can't complain for 30 dollars. Rather than using a sheath, which I feel keeps them soaking in salty water, I use a D-ring on my surf belt, like the one aquaskinz offers. The pliers fit perfectly in the ring and are not corroding in a salted sheath. Attach with a piece of hockey skate lace and you're good!

One of these winters I am going to make me a nice set of titanium pliers. Then if I loose them it won't hurt so bad

I have been on one pair for 2 seasons. No rust. It does not flex laterally because the plier section is SS. It is titanium coated and this prevents the rust. The front "split ring" portion is extra thick so I wouldn't use it for split rings but it holds a hook solid without slipping out of the jaws. The one downside is they are only a 6.5" plier
