Aaaaahhh.....Fishhh!
Aaahhh....finally some fish! Out this morning in Scituate by one of the "Cliffs"....with my brand new, virgin, never caught fish on it before, conventional rod. It is a Lami model #PSB 108 1L
that I started to build after taking a rod building class. I finished the cork rod butt, (cork rings not tape) but I did not have the space to setup to do the guides and rod wrap etc., so I had someone finish it for me and it came out beautiful. I put on an Abu 6500 Big Game and 15# test mono. Conventional rods are very new to me having used spinning gear all my life. So I get to my spot, and on about the 10th cast I see a fish trailing my 1oz. pencil popper and all of a sudden...BANG..fish on, and that rod handled so good I thought I died and went to heaven. Fish was a keeper to boot, measured 29" and a fattie. Kissed it and let it go. Had another swirl but that was it. I felt like I have been using conventional gear my whole life I was so comfortable casting, and I must say I did a nice job on the rod butt. Rod was built specifically for 1 oz. pencil poppers as I love to fish topwater. So...needless to say I had a great morning, just thought I would share with you folks. My spinning gear should be for sale shortly.

Good to hear BF, you said you needed it !!!!
Went out in the boat today caught lots of live herring, then headed for some favorite spots. I caught fish at every one, but only 1 fish per spot. STRANGE.. I would get a fish pretty quick rebait, then wait and wait. NADA. I just had to keep moving.
Totalled about 6 fish boated, lost a bunch, 1 was about 30" all released.
See ya soon.

That is Van-tastic Sorry Van...couldn't help it. Hey, at least you caught some. Maybe things are looking up. With this somewhat cooler weather, maybe the fish will turn on a bit. Talk to you later.

Van, I missed you by a day... I played hookie yesterday and took my daughter out. Brit got some nice herring very early am.
Hit some harbor islands and some inshore rock piles.
First cast, lobbed the biggest herring into some rocks and almost instantly had a good one on. Brit and I took turns with the battle. 40" and 23lbs... it slowed down after that. I mean, you can't get fish every cast or drift.
We ended up with 10 fish, 6 keepers... mostly small (28-30") with one 34". Just saw a ton of bass, between chasers, fish following hooked fish and fish just cruising.
Other than a couple schoolies on plastic, most on bait.
Not sure if I'm gonna get out this weekend.

SM,
Funny cause when I was fishing around one particular inner island, I saw a guy in a Lund (red) and I thought it might be you.
I didnt get to close to him cause I didnt want to interfere with his fishing. I cant remember if your boat is red though.
I might get out Sunday AM early and get back early, my son has an allstar Baseball game in the afternoon. Weather might clear for a while so hopefully i can get some fishing in and he can get the game in.
See you out there sooner or later.

Van, I have a white Logic 17' center console... I have a minn kota riptide on the bow, so you can't miss me. Don't see too many trolling motors out there.
I was pretty wiped out this weekend, so I decided to bag and work on my daughters swingset and other stuff around the house. I don't get to come home and take a nap after my 3:30am wake-ups anymore, so I've been running down a bit.
You get out Sun?

Greg,
Sure did, fog was nasty though, thank god for chartplotters !!
Picked up 4 fish on the tube-n-worm, kept one 30" for the grill.
Yummy!! Gonna have the last of it for lunch today..
I'm hearing things are starting to heat up more around the harbor, with fish in the early AM. Got a couple of reports at the marina yesterday...
