need some new rods
so I need to add a pair of haddock setups and a pair spinning setups for bass. lets hear some ideas for rods. for bass -spinning, 7 to 7'6", rated 1-4oz, $150ish ea. and for haddock - looking for a "light" rod 6'6" or under capable of jigging 16 oz. and for bait fishing sometimes. same thing $150ish will be paired up with a torium 16. this is all for charters so its all got to be fairly durable. and if ur gonna say ugly stick...

My ugly stick tiger jigging rods have killed more bass then I want to think about, before you go knocking them.

Trust me
An inexpensive rod will sink to the bottom in 90-400 ft just as fast as will a high price custom when a charter client sends it overboard 😜

St Croix Triumph series has an XXH rod for heavy weight- I 3-way 20ounces at the Race (CT) all the time with it....
as for Spinner- the Shimano Teramar rods are excellent. they come in every size and variety depending on what you're looking for. I use an 8 footer rated "heavy" for throwing big popper and other plugs. also good for slingin eels

Cpt. Bobby Rice was using those uglystik tiger rods for striped bass for a stretch. He might still be using them.
Their weak point are the guides...but if one were to strip one down and put new components on...they would make a killer rod.
Super shock absorbers flexy rods. I think they are great for jigging and very forgiving for landing fish.

I'll throw another ugly stick vote in. After hammering fish with Dan they hold up quite good. I'd buy em without hesitation, and I'm a gear snob for some unknown reason.

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

When in doubt the answer is almost always CMS. But those $44 shipped tigers put a beating on fish 😂 and this is from a guy who’s had rod components overnighted via Japan post 😃
