Agree big fish... for some reason, many tattoo artists elongate
the mouth/lips and they dont look like a striped bass.
Starting with a STRONG image before heading to shop is key.
I would not rely on the tattoo artist to find the image of a striped-bass
for you.

I have one. I posted a pic of it on here years ago. I had to go back for a touch up because it was short a stripe and missing a tine fin bone on the dorsal.

Ron, this was done on a guy who used to work with me and made a couple Cuttyhunk trips with us.

Lived with a woman for years, things were going great until she suggested getting matching tattoos of each other.
I did get to keep the dog though.
Win,win !
I’d be very particular about the artist if I were getting a tattoo. Some of the internet hero fishermen from the canal are sporting some really lame artwork now.

Reminds me of when my buddy got his tatoo of a panther when we
were in highschool.....hahahaha....he was so proud of it. It looked
more like a ferret than a panther. He still has the ferret. There is
no control Z for a hasty decision.
Perhaps contact that guy who does Zeno's art....for SCJ.
You can google "Striped bass Logo" and will get some common forms
I have seen around....just dont end up with this one.
If it were me, I would find an artist who works in graphic forms and specializes in black and white sort of designs. Sort of like that guy that does the art from Surfcasters Journal. You could probably just ping Zeno.
If you are looking for something less graphic and more like an illustration. My buddy Mike Sudal is pretty talented, I am not sure if he would be interested but you can contact him to find out.

Oh no, not me.
I’m not much for things that permant and the fact that I’ve had psoriasis for years, would probably kill me sooner than planned.
For my nephew.

Having a great tattoo artist is key! Regardless of the tattoo
I’ve seen some pretty bad tattoos in general but most of the fish ones I’ve see are horrible

This is my Brothers good friend from Quincy that we grew up with. He's gotten very good. Black and white specialty, but will do color. I think he's gotten to the point where if your nephew was interested he'd have to jump through a few hoops (going to the shop to talk, might be a little time to get the appointment). But have him take a look at his work, with tattoos, I don't think I want the guy thats ready when I am. If I were to get anything, he'd be the guy I'd go to.
His owl's and dia de la muerta stuff does it for me.
