Blue Needles
I'm sure many are sitting home on lockdown like me and dreaming of days in the suds fishing for our beloved striped bass.
As such, i thought I'd try to drum up some plug talk.
This past year I had some success with a powder blue high hook needle (dinner catcher) and in years past i've had success with the Habs 2oz needle in his metallic blue.
I know Iron Mike supposedly liked the baby blue habs as well.
I bring this up because I never really fish blue darters or other plugs really. I guess you could count eelskins as blue, but i don't think its the color that matters on an eelskin. Anyway, I like blue needles.
Anyone else like blue needles? Or blue plugs?
Hope you're all safe and healthy.

Blue-back rebels with silver sides were always staples in every beach fisherman's bag for many years but there weren't as many color and brand choices as we have now though. When other brands of plastic swimmers came out they all had blue versions too.
I was always partial to black and black back versions but to be honest I don't think it made a whole lot of difference. Since all my fishing was at night, I found size, profile, and presentation more important. Having said that though I do have a lot of blue-back swimmers in numerous brands for both fresh and salt water.

I've done well with large blue over white needles in the past, Eddy used to make a great one, but in recent years I find white, purple, blk/orange, and parrot to cover the bases well enough that I rarely throw blue needles anymore.
I have, however, done well with blue cloud darters and conrads, particularly the latter, over the years and still fish them fairly often.
