Forum
Some people are getting increasingly nasty with each other. Shutting down the political talk for a week. We need to find a better way to communicate, people. If we can't un-eff it here, how are we going to do it where it counts?

Good move John.
I don't participate in the BS on that forum but I do stop in occasionally for S hits and Giggles.
It has become an absolute clown show. There are 4 or 5 guys who monopolize all the conversations and for the most part, make no sense except to insult each other.

Now back to our regularly scheduled topics... and that would be fishing, or something related to do with fishing.

I agree, but if you don't give the bomb throwers on each side a place to throw bombs, they'll do it in either the Main Forum or the Scuppers.
Look at SOL. Timmy tossed a bunch of guys out of his politics forum, and they just took over the Town Tavern. If you start a fisheries regulation thread in the Mass forum, sooner or later someone's going to throw in a political post and then all hell breaks loose. I get to be the bad guy for deleting the crap.
These sites are just a microcosm of the US today. Whatever happened to the days when Reagan would invite Tip O'Neill over to the WH in the evening, and they'd work out compromises over a bottle of Irish whiskey?

Prob. long overdue. There are very few fishing related threads here and the few that are fishing related are photos of trips.

I would be willing to wager that if John took a poll of how many of us want the Political Forum to cease to exist the overwhelming majority would be in favor of ditching it.
John, why not take a poll?

Count me as one who would like it to end, or get Santos to moderate it so it can live up to its true potential.

Hahhahaaaa
Though I have often admired how thoughtful/ inslightfiul/ dedicated some of the posts in there get when I have popped in as nothing else new to read here, but I have never fathomed how some have so much time to think about, read, type, and spend debating those thoughts...... on a fishing site..
Most days I'm lucky to have enough time to eat or hit the head.......I guess I just doin it all wrong

Honestly all my time comes from A Retired B winter . Come fishing season much less.
And banging out a few responses take just a few minutes sitting on the couch or sitting at a store waiting for my wife
I love talking politics I tried with my wife . She’s not interested . so the political page takes up the slack..
if John pulls the plug. He’s the boss I’ll still be here
On the argument this is a fishing forum , so get rid of the political forum . much of that tends to come from those who never comment in the political section anyway.
That doesn’t mean their views aren’t valid on the current topic
In my view pictures of your Catch no matter the size . Is just what a fishing site is for. To share and support others accomplishments on or off the water
And of course the flow of ideas on bait or lures even location I find valuable. And will provide to anyone whom asks

The problem with that forum is that certain guys and you know who you are, can’t help throwing the nasty insults if a thread gets contentious. I try to keep it civil, but do like to do a little ribbing at times, but I try to keep it in good taste and not nasty.

So basically I feel that if people like to go there and can be respectful to others, You can post your opinion without being nasty to one another just like in real life then keep it if not then boot their butt out of it and that's the end of it
I myself don't give a rats ass what your political opinion is so I don't go there and never have
