Boat vs under sail

Not buyimg the Weymouth boaters explanation that suddenly a boat under sail cut across his path and he had no time to avoid hitting and killing one of the sailors. I would be shocked if he isnt charged, but he certainly going to get his arse sued.

You’d be surprised or maybe not about how many boaters do not know the rules of the road and I’m not talkin the complicated ones just the basics

There are rules for a reason

I also get frustrated when everyone is cautious and wants to give the other guy the way. This becomes like a 4 way stop. No one knows the others intentions. Stick to the rules and there is no guessing involved. I’m not talking about a 30 ft boat vs a 600ft ship that can’t get outta the way just small craft.

I have come out of Newport many time with little kids seems like 50 of them tacking back and forth in the busiest area of the channel.

Then further north find bigger sale boats doing the same thing. Thinking who’s on the windward side who’s on the leeward.. and trying to guess when their going to tack..

And yet I have see powerboats cut in front of a 300 ft tanker with 2 tugs along side with 25 yards between the bow and the dock .

And even had one bunch of yahoos with no running lights come up behind us while we were backing down with a ships lines to a dolphin. Who called us A holes…. .. defensive driving is how I operate

But any situation that result in a death. Is usually someone not paying attention or auto pilot

Very sad situation that happened in my area.
Husband & wife in the sail boat
The twin engine power boat hit them I believe on the part side went up and over the sail boat, the props of the power boat did a number on the couple including chopping off limbs.
The woman has since died from her injuries.

LETS GO BRANDON
