Too early. And why morning? Let the sun warm up the gravel so they might be inclined to eat (if there is something there)
Go inside somewhere and maybe find a holdover. Probably not the cemetery though, the water will be a mess after this rain until the end of the week.

Back when i had a tin boat, the stocks were good and the state didn’t prohibit access to my favorite holdover spot, on those upcoming warm days my buddy Drew or Greg and i would exhaust ourselves way up inside catching not just small holdovers but some nice 15-20 lbers. If the stocks return and they clear people to fish that spot, i might have to get up inside with my kayak. Clammer would often join us there for the fun.

I always used to start around april 14th when there was a high tide around noon. Pear cocohoe on a 3/8 jighead and a little black red gill teaser.

In years past, I used to get way too worked up feeling like I'm "behind" or "missing it" because of news that this guy or that guy was getting them somewhere.... This year, I'm going to tune out 99% of all online "noise", reports, posts, and just focus on what I'M doing, and where my years of prior results tell me I should be (as it coincides with my schedule of course!)
Sure, there's nothing wrong with a little intel, but there's a difference between trusted info among close friends, and letting online posts and chatter get you worked up and make you feel like youre missing out.
I'm content with whatever my season brings with this approach. Ive done it to an extent in years past (i dont use face book, etc...) but I'm going social-recluse mode even more this season... and looking forward to it!

Coming out of the moratorium we'd hunt all spring, I use to do 100 nights a year and work full time selling software internationally.
