Golden morning....

Some of my best luck ever in the canal. Weather was awesome, water was calm...

33,34, and a 35 landed. Several shorts... and a couple blues...

Live eels dead eels ... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeels!
Wouldnt even look at anything else.

Soon as light hit, one last blue, then they were gone..

cast against the current..
slow slow retreive if any at all.

although, at least half the fish were caugh within seconds of them hitting the water.. so that doesnt really apply to them.

and yes.. inches..
Ive yet to nail that 30lber... I got a feeling it willbe this year though..

It was a good feeling too.. I thought the 35" one was gonna die.. I tried to revive it, kept going belly up.. Left it in the water in front of me, stayed belly up for a good hour... Then, all of a sudden, very calmly it flipped back over, and swam away (not so calmly)

All fish successfully released.

Bjs, Nice going man. You did a lot better than me this morning. I only managed one small schoolie and two small bluefish before I had to go to work. Had lots of nice big rubber get chewed to bits by the snapper blues as well but didn't hook to many of them, it's amazing how they bite off your rubber right behind the hook most of the time. There really wasn't much surface activity this morning considering it was slack at right about sunrise? I did try a topwater plug at slack but no takers. I guess maybe I should have brought some eels.......

Bjs, No I don't think it was me. I was at the base of some big bridge piling. I think I should have gone around the run, I have been doing better there lately. That was quite a vessel that came through this morning wasn't it. I think the name of it was the Navigator from Nassau or something like that. That thing sucked quite a bit of water from the shoreline when it went by. Did you see any surface activity at dawn? I still can't believe there weren't more fish busting today, seemed to be plenty of bait where I was to.
