Me and a few guys might be taking a trip to Cuttyhunk during the spring/ summer this year. We would love to go with a trip for the company and it would be alot cheaper. I would really appreciate any help. Even if it is any advice that you have on the magical place. Does anyone know any groups that are going?

There are plenty of closer, cheaper, and easier places to fish on this side of the pond. It is a big commitment and expensive to go over there. And it is a lot of walking and tough, tough fishing. Big investment for hit or miss fishin.
Be prepared.

Someone needs to relax. Always worrying about over crowding. Like only you can fish Cuttyhunk since it is your "spot". It is a pretty secret place. You have no more of a right to be there then i do if i want to go.

Geez... give Redlite a break... If he says it is expensive and tough fishing for a hit or miss visit then it is...sounds like good input.

Not me! All i want to do i fish. I like going new places. I have taken the money into consideration. And i would like to try it.

Easy guys...Redlite is just having a little fun! Cuttyhunk is a great place to fish but Redlite was right....its no walk in the park! Be prepared to work your butts off for fish! As he said its hit or miss so be prepared! I have been over there and stayed about 15 times and we have had some great trips and had a few so-so trips! Sometimes the fish just jump out of the water at you and others......you spend hours casting miles of shoreline with nary a hit! Thats why they call it fishing! However it was always worth the trip especially if you go with a few good folks as I do! Also the flavor and history of the island makes it all worthwhile! The great people who work and live on the island and at the Fishing Club also make for a wonderful trip! Be prepared to walk miles and miles of softball and bowling ball sized rocks.....shin splints are a guarantee as are leg cramps if you do not stay hydrated! Bring your food as there are no stores over there save for a small general store which opens 2 times a day for 2 hours a whack! Gotta pack your booze too as no liquor stores on the island.....no kidding! Bring extra tip tops for your rod in case you have an issue.....broken tip tops with no replacements can ruin a trip! I usually bring 2-3 rods and 4-5 reels. Plugs are highly recommended especially topwater plugs......spooks, pencils, needles. Swimmers are great when the rockweed allows....if you have a wetsuit you can bypass the weed and fish swimmers to your turkish delight! Many like eels and/or rubber! Bring a camera too.......its a special place and you will want pics to remember your trip!

Redlite's right. If people realized the amount of effort/planning/input/failure involved to get the occasional success, you will appreciate his point of view. Its actually like any other place in that you will fail most of the time.
Redlite's also right in stating there's plenty of equally good fishing close to home if its strictly fish you're looking for.

As for fun and relaxation, I spent three days there last fall, fished for a couple hours, and had my most enjoyable fishing trip of the season. Next time I go, I just might leave the rods home

as john said. fishing can be very spotty st times. to be succesfull, you must be able to walk great distances. or you could get lucky and catch fish right at the club. people there are great. bring your korkers. bring extra everything.

Cutty is a waste of time as is Block Island ,Montauk and all places in between
according to the legend, these place were hyped up by writers who's night job encompassed selling hotel rooms at Montauk, boat slips at Block and.........well,I am not sure what they are selling at Cutyy. Rocks maybe?
Anyway, Cape is the place you want to be.Bassdozer said so. I just would not try to cast those wooden Musso meta lips between two seals.
Or Jersey in the spring. But you might have to clear it with NIB first.

A trip to the island with the Cutty Crew is one of the circled events on my season's calendar for a number of years now. While you always have a chance at possibly landing a 40 or possibly a 50, that is not what it is all about. A getaway with a bunch of guys who are as into striper fishing, with the Cuttyhunk Fishing Club as our base of operation, is about having fun, laughs, stepping back in time and getting away from the real world for a short bit. We laugh, lie, tell stories, swap and ho', chit on one another, wreck stuff on land and sea,and eat like kings. Always someone willing to go out and fish with. As close to being back in a college fraternity as you can get at my age,,,The majority of trips have not resulted in large nor numerous fish. But there have been some nice fish caught. Last year some of us even chartered with a local captain. We caught fish and learned a lot about surf fishing the island from being on the boat.
You need to be agile to navigate the bowling ball rocks that are constantly shifting underfoot over 75% of the shoreline. If you aren't agile or up to walking several miles at a whack, you are just not going to be able to access some of the proven, mystical, island gems. You'll be pissed for not having built up to it, as many can vouch for.
My seven trips have not gotten me even a 20# fish, but I still look forward to the trip and being with the guys.
