Can you use Macks to chum for Macks?

What do you guys think, would this work? Noticed that boats chumming were doing better than my trolling around, I have a couple macks frozen from my last outing so was thinking this might be a cheap way to chum for more!

As a kid I used to use pieces of macs on a bobber to catch more macs to live line off the moon island pier. Going way back now.....Jesus I'm getting old !

You can use anything to chum for macs.
They are thinning out so chum makes the difference in catching a lot, or not many

Another Old Guy

In the early sixties a bobber with a slice of mack was the only method we used to catch more macks, primarily from a home made 14 foot boat off the south side of Long Island.

Moon Island was my favorite. Fishing off the east wall was very productive.

I used to bike there from Dorchester at low tide, dig the biggest snake seaworms ever and return at high tide to catch flounder from the shore either north or south side.

Once they started to superchlorinate the sewage discharge everything started to die off.
