Cod Meat

I was thinking about going out for some cod before it gets too warm but a friend of mine said that the meat might be "wormy" this time of year. What does that mean? Is it still safe to eat?

yes it is safe to eat, after you have cut up the fish , hold the fillet up to a bright light, if you see any worms[ they look like a flatten spring in a circle] just take something an pull them out, no big deal. fish markets call them friendlys so the customers don't get upset an run away.

BOAT fish do count.

Thanks. Just curious, are they unique to cod or might I find them in haddock, pollock, or any other ground fish?
