We got a buncha new members here...

Why don't you say hello, how you found out about us (trying to see if our annual advertising budget - $3.85 - is working), and a little about yourselves...

I'm an unemployed techie that fishes from the suds although I did buy a partially done kick ass boat to go fishing with my son....

Welcome to S-B

I joined a couple of days ago. I'm from Western MA, and try to fish all three nights every weekend usually somewhere in Rhode Island. I'm 20 years old but have been fishing ever since I could stand. I've had a couple of real good mentors and put in a lot of time on the water.

I always knew about this webpage but just read what people had to say, finally decided that I should join and share some of what I've learned and to continue to gain from the page.

Just a Jersey surfcaster trapped in Pennsylvania. I enjoy a different look at things every once in a while. Everyone down here seems to fish the same way, same lures, same spots all the time. too much light tackle stuff also. I am more into throwing bigger stuff from the rocks and in the surf as opposed to the light tackle stuff in the back like everybody down here. Your plug building forum is awesome. Also think your sight could be helpful watching the fish move suoth this fall. Don't get to go on the computer much but this is always my first stop.

I know that right now you gotta fish at night on a rocky shoreline, breachway, or deep beach, reel in your plug really slow, the fish are here and many big fish are being taken. You probably wont here about most that are taken and it'll be over in december

Just followed JohnR here from Classic Seacraft. 2nd generation striper fisherman from a striperholic family with lines dating back to the original MSBA members of the 50's. Hey JohnR, less BS'n and more work would get that boat in the water!

Just found you guys yesterday. After two years of hell renovating and opening The Old Town Inn on Block Island, I've rediscovered fishing. Joe Lyons was out here a couple of times this summer and got me hooked. (Left me a couple of Tatoo plugs to play with too.) Been getting out at least once a day and learning my way around. I look forward to picking up a few pointers from you all as I get back in the groove. Nice to have you out there.

BTW: Anybody know how to build an eel trap?

Borne and bread on the c.c. surf and i am sick and tired of hearing about the "secret spots". There are no more secrets, but what there is, is secret conditions that occur in all the spots which we all know about. What they are and when they occur are the real secrets of the surf

Welcome aboard everyone!

GoFish - might be seeing you in a couple weeks

Washrat - Maybe there are no secret spots but there are secret blitzes and thankfully in Lil Rhody, nearly secret hikes

Sokinwet - thought that was you

Rizzo - shhh about December - everyone thinks things are done in two weeks

I joined a couple of months ago and didn't formally introduce mysef. I live in South County RI and try to fish the coast every dawn and sunst (much to my girlfriends dismay). I build most of my own plugs and blow glass for a living.

Go fish, get a large minow trap and stick a can of cat food in there. Dont open the lid, just poke a few holes in the lid to let the juices flow out with the current.. check it every 6 hours. Move it around in different marshy places in New harbour untill you find the sweet spot

I dont' know if I ever formally introduced myself either! I have been out here about 3 months.
I live in Mass, 34yrs old, married, daughter- 14 month old girl who I'm crazy about and a new baby on the way ( must be from the summer lull). I grew up in Ct. I have fished RI since I was @ 8. I went to URI, lived in RI for a few years and then moved to the west coast.
I moved back about 3 years ago and started fishing again. I fish mainly So. County. My Dad, fished the RI coast for years and is now in Florida. He is my "Obi-Wan" for fishing advice.

Most surfcasters wont give you the time of day when they're in the water but at least on this site there is a lot of great communication. I've really enjoyed the posts and look forward to meeting some of you in the surf....but then again I may not talk to you.

GoFish was once a New Yorker. Now he's "gone native" and is surfcasting everyday and ch#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g Tattoo swimmers from the beach....It does my heart good to think that I played some small part in this...

Eben
I'd like to do a non fishing story about your glass blowing...that sounds so cool.

Hey Eben:

Thanks for the eel-trap-cat-food trick. I'd heard that a minnow trap would work with cat food (Thanks Joe!), but was trying to come up with a container for the bait. Great suggestion!

Sounds like you know the Island. I knew a glass blower named Chris out here in the in the 70s. That you?

Yeah I know the island pretty well.. Never lived there, but if I had the dough I'd have a little cabin for fall fishing. I've got a bunch of friends that have either grown up on the island or summer there... It sure is a beautiful place.

I dont know Chris but I know he moved to New Hampshire...
My name really is Eben! I dont feel the need to hide behind any internet names..
