Holdovers
Me and Samadams327 tried for holdovers today.
No fish, but Sam did lose a new pencil popper to a tree.
Saw allot of geese.
IT Beats sitting at home with your thumb up your ass though

Might have had my thumb up my ass.... ....but at least I still got all my pencil poppers... and a couple of needlefish plugs fresh off the lathe!
Where ja go...if ya don't mind burning your spot.....I mean people are lurking everywhere to find out where the holdovers aren't coming from.
Sounds like I am being a smart guy but just curious where you went, pretty good day for it, and it most certainly was better than a thumb up my ass.

it is a little bit early for PP's up here. you guys would have been better of casting in a field than throwing them in the river. live and learn. or not...........

yep, i'll be there.
remember, there is no point throwing the large plugs until the large bait is present. right now, the holdovers will be feeding on native food sources such as river shiners and small fish. throw small jigs if you feel the need to try it again. try something in the in the 1/2 ounce or smaller size. unless you have a boat, you most likely will not get into stripers. if you don't find where the stripers are, you at least have a shot at getting a smallie. good luck.

HOLDOVERS!!!!!!
Tried the downstream side of the Amelia Earhardt dam in Somerville yesterday. I caught 4 schoolies from 18 - 25 inches on 5 inch Fins on 1/4 oz. jigs. I lost 4 other fish to poor hooksets.
I was using light tackle, which kade it much more fun.
I looks like the holdovers are schooling up in preparation for the impending herring and alewife runs.
